We are chartered by Lions Clubs International in 1948. Fifty-two men had a vision of helping a community improve the lives of its citizens. Now, we are a co-ed club of eight plus volunteers meeting the challenges of today. As of December 31, 2003, Lions Clubs International is in 192 countries and geographical areas. They have 1,348,350 members in 46,134 clubs of 739 districts. The Lions are a world-wide service organization dedicated to improving peoples lives. We support the Lions Club International Foundation. The West Salem Lions Club sponsors, supports and services many groups, events, and places. Beyond the club: We have sponsored several new clubs in the surrounding area. Wisconsin clubs have the Wisconsin Lions Foundation at Rosholt, WI. The foundation provides a summer camp for disabled children; hearing aids for the needy; eye glass recycling center; seeing eye dog sponsors; Resource and Conference Center; and other programs as well.
